UN Mediator Matthew Nimetz Visits Athens
The UN Mediator on the name dispute between Greece and FYROM, Matthew Nimetz, is visiting Athens today after having visited the neighboring country involved in the dispute.
At 13:30 the UN representative will have a lunch meeting with the Greek Foreign Minister, Stavros Dimas, while at 15:30 he will meet with the Greek PM, Lucas Papademos.
Mr. Nimetz commented that both his visit to Athens and Skopje does not hint at any new proposals on the name issue.
“I submit new proposals only when I deem it useful. As UN representative I do not make any new proposals unless the time is right” said Mr. Nimetz to FYROM PM Nikola Gruevski on Tuesday.
The UN mediator underlined that the point of his visit with the two countries’ leaderships revolves around assessing the determination to solve the dispute.
