Bungee jumping
Bungee jumping is an adventurous sports activity that has become particularly popular these last years all over the world. Bungee Jumping began on Pentecost island, in the south west of the Pacific Ocean, from a native tribe who use this process to choose their leaders. Boys at the age of 16 climb on wooden scaffolds 20 m high, tie tendrils around their ankles and jump. Most boys get seriously harmed and others even lose their lives. However, those who survive become the leaders of the whole tribe. This practice started in the ancient times and continues till today.
In Greece bungee jumping has become very popular over the last decade. Although it may seem scary more people dare every year to take that leap of faith. Will you dare?
There are many clubs and sports organizations that organize bungee jumping in Greece. The most famous bungee spots in Greece is the bridge of Chalkida, about 100 km to the north of Athens, and the Corinth Channel, a bridge 100m high.
